Connecting Logs, Metrics, and Traces with Grafana LGTM

Observability often grows one tool at a time: logs in Elasticsearch, metrics in Prometheus or InfluxDB, and traces missing completely, each with its own query language and dashboards. I'll show how to connect all three with the Grafana LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo and Mimir), with OpenTelemetry and Grafana Alloy collecting telemetry from applications. The lessons come from building and running it in production, self-hosted on AWS in Docker behind Nginx: how the parts fit together, how data moves through the system, how to get from an alert to the related logs and trace, and the tradeoffs of running your own observability platform.
